Rugby Against Cancer are pleased to announce our 2nd annual Trek 2 Twickers is on but with a twist.
On Friday 14th to Saturday 15th of August 2020, 13 walkers will take on a 71-mile walk in a target of 26 hours.
The walkers will begin outside of Twickenham Stadium on Friday morning via Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth on Saturday afternoon and we will finish at Canoe Lake, Southsea to a welcome by family, friends and supporters. Keep a lookout on our social media outlets for on the day updates and timings.
This fundraising event is being completed to help raise funds and much needed awareness for Rugby Against Cancer and our nominated charity, Breast Cancer Now.
One of Rugby Against Cancer’s goals for 2020 was to purchase a Bladder Scanner for D3 ward at Queen Alexandra Hospital, with many of our big events having to be cancelled due to Covid-19 this has put a big dent in our fundraising plans. We are still very determined to make this purchase and donation, but it may not be within the time frame we would have liked.
We are not only excited to be able to take on the challenge, but we are looking forward to being able to give back to those that need support. With the Covid-19 situation over the last few months charity fundraisers have been non-existent so if we can support these then why wouldn’t we?
About Rugby Against Cancer
- A Hampshire based charity organisation who support rugby players and their families dealing with cancer
- Rugby Against Cancer want to support those that need our help to make their situation a little bit easier to deal with.
- Rugby Against Cancer was founded by a Rugby player and 4 rugby players make up the committee/trustees. We personally know how important the rugby community and family is, and this is why we want to do our bit and help those within this amazing community.
- Cancer does not discriminate and can affect anybody, so we want to be there for those that need it. Be that rugby players who have been diagnosed with cancer, the family of rugby players or those that don’t play anymore but are still involved in the rugby community.
- Not only do we want to support this group of people, but we will support fundraisers and smaller cancer charities that need to raise awareness and funds to continue to do what they do.
- In 2019 we raised £26,620 for cancer charities in the UK through events throughout the year
